Swift Tutorial

Swift is a new programming language for developing apps for IOS and Mac OS, and it is destined to become the foremost computer language in the mobile and desktop space.

    Swift Overview

Swift is a new programming language for IOS and OS X application platforms that is developed based on the structure of C and Objective-C, without the constraints of C compatibility.

      Swift Environment Setup

Swift provides a suitable platform for putting the Swift code and executes it. Now you will set up the same for learning purpose.

        Swift Basic Syntax

Till now, we have seen how to set up the environment to write, compile, and execute code along with a simple Hello program. If you want to write the above code snippet for the iOS platform, then you have to […]

          Swift Data Types

Swift, is rich in data types. The storage representation and machine instructions differ from machine to machine. Swift provides various types of data-types that allow programmers to select the appropriate type for the variable to set its value.

            Swift Variables

A variable provides us with named storage that our programs can operate. Variable names cannot contain mathematical symbols, arrows, private-use (or invalid) Unicode code points, or line- and box-drawing characters nor can they begin with a number, although numbers may be included elsewhere within the name.

              Swift Literals

In most of the programming languages, literals and constants play a major role in dealing with values within a program. Swift also support the concept of literals and constants. They are used to hold a constant value for expressing them within the code and hold a memory location.

                Swift Constants

Constants refer to fixed values in the Swift program which will not alter during the execution of the program.

                  Swift Operators

There are various operators supported by Swift. These symbols are used to carry out logical and mathematical operations in a program. These symbols are used to join individual constants and variables to form expressions and to perform specific operations.

                    Swift Characters and Strings

For every programming languages, characters and its combination, i.e., strings play a significant role in programming and bring with it some striking features that help programmers to shape messages and statements within the program. A string is a sequence of […]

                      Swift Decision Making

Decision plays a major role in every programming language. In this chapter you will learn about the decision-making statements that are provided by the Swift language.

                        Swift Loops

In the previous chapters, you have seen that the conditions can be applied to a program to branch the execution of statements within a program. But there may arise some situations where programmers have to repeat the same block of […]

                          Swift Arrays

Till now, we have seen and used the basic data types. Though these types are handy for declaring variables, constants, or a return type for a function; they are restrained by the fact that these types can store only one […]
